Morgan "MO" Wolsey adds 105 pounds of brute force to Kodiaks D squad.

A rare freeze & MO laces up the skates!
A rare freeze & MO laces up the skates!

There's no doubt that our latest Defensive addition has proved his worth. And there's no doubt that he's loving his new role on the team. Competitors don't always like him because he has proven that he can use his size to protect in our defensive zone (Ouch). His teammates and coaches all like him though because he is always a positive influence in the locker room and on the bench. He's the definition of what coaches refer to as "coachable". At 5’ and 105 pounds, Morgan is a stay-at-home defenceman with a solid left handed point shot - a shot that earned him his first hat trick this year for the South Delta T-birds. Morgan’s favourite NHL’er is Milan Lucic, but feels his play most resembles Zdeno Chara. (Heads up!)

Morgan attends Cliff Drive Elementary School in Tsawwassen where he enjoys Math, PE and Fine Arts. He plays in the school band (Alto Sax) and participates in school basketball and Tech Team.

When not playing hockey Morgan is a Provincial Champion baseball player and Delta Cup Champion in soccer. Morgan’s parents are Travis and Christine and his siblings are Caroline (9) and Nathan (4). Morgan enjoys family time and really enjoys his mom’s broccoli casserole.

Morgan is excited to be a Kodiak and we're happy to have him.

Charlie brings A Game to help strengthen Kodiaks lineup.

Posted by: Ken Simms on Sun May 15th 2011 7:14pm

Charlie started skating at three years old. From his first day of “Little Gretzkys” he has been an avid hockey player. After starting on the A2 team for the 2010/11 season, Charlie earned a spot on the Atom A1 South Delta Storm this past year and loved the experience. One of the highlights was flying to Portland, Oregon with two of his teammates.

Charlie shoots one hundred pucks a day. He insists on tying his own skates. He watches the NHL highlights everyday and dreams of playing in the NHL. Now at 75lbs, and standing 52inches tall, he brings his good habits to his role at center and left wing and says that his favourite thing about playing hockey is deking. Our favourite thing about Charlie is that he ALWAYS brings high intensity and a BIG effort. He's just always excited to be playing and that is infectious. He's a great player who is very dependable and he is a constant force on the team.

Charlie also plays baseball as a pitcher and a catcher. He likes to play basketball and golf. He loves to go off jumps on his mountain bike with Ryan Woodhead in the forest near our house.

Charlie's nine year old brother, Ben, is also a hockey player. His mom, Gillian is a teacher and his dad, Ted, is a landscape architect who specializes in golf course design.

Kodiaks introduce new Energy Booster - the TC Power Shot

Always smiling - #13 Trent Clarke
Always smiling - #13 Trent Clarke

For years, battery researchers have trying to find ways to get more energy into smaller cells. Beverage makers have been trying to find the recipe that gives the most efficient energy boost. Clearly they haven't discovered what your Kodiaks scouting team has.

Meet #13 Trent Clarke. Few players bring such high energy to every game and practice - in fact every shift. As an 01, he's the youngest player on the Kodiaks this year but he's one of the biggest impacts on the bench. "Having coached Trent on and off since Hockey 2, I know we can count on him anytime to give his team a boost both on and off the ice", says Assistant Coach Ken Simms. "He's a skilled player that comes with the added asset of built-in intensity. That's something you just can't teach."

Trent is not new to the Kodiaks but is a new full time recruit. He played his first two years of hockey with South Delta Minor, and three seasons with Burnaby Winter Club. For Spring he's played with the 01 BC Bears, and the 01 Vancouver Selects and was an affiliate with the Kodiaks last season.

Trent has skating in his DNA. Older brother Brett just finished his final year of Midget with SDMHA. Dad, Rob has played at a very competitive level his whole life. Mom is a figure skater. He also plays lacrosse and golf. Clearly the Lacrosse experience has helped with his early entry to PeeWee. He currently attends school at Beach Grove Elementary.

Trent’s dad, Rob, is a Sergeant and his mom, Alex, a Detective; both with the Vancouver Police.

Former Seafair D-Man Riley Wong adds power and speed to Kodiaks Blue Line!

Newest Kodiaks Acquisition Riley Wong

His says his favourite Coach is our own Skills Coach Yogi Svejkovsky. "He pushes you hard and teaches you lots!" says the tough blueliner. Former SD storm players certainly understand and agree with that since they have all benefited with Yogi training as well.

Riley played last season with the Seefair A1 team and was recommended by Yogi for his speed and power. In Game 1 versus the Snipers, he certainly demonstrated that as he shut down breakaways before they happened and was instrumental at both ends of the ice.

His favourite teams include the Chicago Blackhawks and Vancovuer Canucks as well as the WHL Giants. He's played with the Steveston Sharks as well as 3 on 3 but loves many other sports. He plays Basketball and in Allstar Baseball he was a contributor when his
team took Bronze at the Provincial championships.

At home you'll find him playing on his PS3 - probably NHL09. (After homework and chores are done right?). He says he loves Math, which surprised his Dad, Belden. Belden plays beer league hockey and works for Worksafe BC. Mom Denise is a teacher. You'll see them with brother Cam (12) at the rink.

Great first game Riley! You are a great addition to the team.

Silver Helmet offensive threat signs Golden contract with Kodiaks!

Lefty Joshua Louie shown as a righty!
Lefty Joshua Louie shown as a righty!

SDMHA A1 Storm families may recognize the lefty in the silver helmet from the 2010 Portland Junior Winterhawks tournament. His 3 point game for opposing Seafair A2 earned him the MVP for the game.

He attends Richmond Christian school and loves math, science, PE and Nerf Blasters Club. He loves most sports including track and baseball. Along with Riley Wong, another recent signing by the Kodiaks, his team captured bronze at the 2010 provincial championships.

He has been a deadly offensive threat with the Richmond Cosom Floor Hockey league for the past 4 years. As an 8 year old he and younger brother Jacob helped their team win the league championship.

Josh played the past year as a solid 2-way centre for the Seafair Atom A2 rep team helping them achieve gold in the Icebreaker Tournament and capturing 2nd place in the regular season and playoffs. He takes great pride in his faceoffs, likes to set up behind the net and often catches goalies off-guard with a deceptive backhand to the top shelf.

Younger brother, Jacob, 8 has followed Joshua into floor hockey and baseball. Parents, Dave and Lily enjoy playing ultimate frisbee together. Besides coaching floor hockey and baseball, Dave works as an air traffic controller. Lily is working at Richmond Christian school. Welcome Josh and family!
