Down 2-1 in the season series, the team from the “stock” looked to rebound with one of their best performances to date. With highly coveted free agent signing Jason Broley making his season debut, he did not disappoint notching two goals on the evening including the game tying goal with five seconds left on the clock. “It was a fun game, I felt good out there” Jason described shortly after the game. “It took me a few shifts to get my hands going and get used to my new line mates, but we found some chemistry and were able to produce”. Jason playing on a line with Trevor Kozlenko and Steve Proctor cycled the puck well in the offensive zone creating numerous scoring chances on a flat Hot Dogs team. With several key players out of the line up including Trevor Tysick, Aaron Groulx and Dan Katsikis, it was Darryl Mayotte who picked up the slack by scoring his first goal of the season late in the game to close the gap to 4-3. “Coach and I had a talk prior to the game, he wanted to see more out of me and I’ve been working really hard in practice so it was nice to finally score one” an elated Darryl Mayotte stated who skated on a line with Kevin Jones and prolific goal scorer Nick “the Midge” Katsikis. It was another solid performance from veteran goaltender “Pystol” Pete Niklaus who shut the door early by not allowing a goal until the 30 minute mark of the game. The solid performance dropped “Pystol’s” GAA to 6.67 and improved his record to 0-2-1 on the season. Next game against the Hot Dogs is not until January 14, 2010 where the team from the “stock” will look to even the season series.

As a young boy growing up in the small city of Oshawa, ON Daryl Mayotte had aspirations in making it to the NHL; like a lot of children growing up in Canada. However Daryl's path to success wasn't that easy. After a couple sub par seasons in the ISHL, Daryl found his scoring prowess in the Blackstock Hockey League where he has evolved as one of the top power forwards in the league. He is currently 3rd in scoring with 1G and 2A and looks to have another strong season next year.
In a recent interview with Daryl's parents, they revisited his childhood as an aspiring hockey player. "Daryl was a good boy, each morning I would wake up to the sound of pucks ringing off our dryer", his proud mother stated. "He would rarely miss" his father added. Daryl is well known around the league for his strong fitness regiment; his dry land training is second to none, but the true secret to his success...?chicken wings and beer? Daryl informs.
In closing, we asked Daryl if there was any advice he could give to the young children that want to follow in his footsteps the response was simple; keep your stick on the ice.

After a breakout season between the pipes this year, star goaltender 'Pystol' Pete Niklaus is refusing to show up to camp next season until he receives a larger contract extension. When coach Niklaus was reached for comment regarding the allegations, he responded "until the GAA is below 10, then we'll talk contract".
'Pystol' is currently sporting a 10.50 GAA after a recent loss to the Oshawa Flying Hot Dogs. Numerous sources have even reported that 'Pystol' could end up in a 'Dogs' uniform next season - for the right price that is.
This could be just the beginning of a messy off season for the team from the 'stock'.

Final Score - The Oshawa Flying Hot Dogs defeat Team Blackstock by a score of 14-10.
3 Star Selection (voted on by the team):
* D. Katsikis
** P. Niklaus
*** J. Cannito
Outstanding performance by centre Dan Katsikis notching five goals on the afternoon. Goaltender 'Pystol' Pete Niklaus was solid in goal making big saves at key times throughout the game. The defensive play of John Cannito was instrumental in shutting down the oppositions top line.

News out of Blackstock Hockey League is that starting phenom goalie 'Pystol' Pete Niklaus has been suspended 3 games for testing positive for steriods. He will miss this upcoming game Sunday and two games next season. An unfortunate set of circumstances as we approach the end of the season.
