Hi Everyone
Just have some information and updates for you on some upcoming things going on in the world of hockey:)
Power Skating- The coaches have decided to go ahead and book some extra power skating times with Kelly since they went really well and the boys are clearly benefiting from them. The extra dates are as follows:
November 30th 430pm Childrens Arena
December 6th 430pm Childrens Arena
December 15th 430pm Harmen Park Arena
Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar as they are added ice times.

December Checks- We have decided not to cash the December checks for now.....however we will be holding on to them until we review financials in January. If need be and the cheques do need to be cashed we will give you plenty of notice before doing so.
Road Hockey Game- The coaches thought it would be fun for the boys to get together for a little road hockey next Saturday November 26th at 2pm. The location has yet to be determined. I will let you know the location this weekend once it's finalized. Could you please let me know if your son is unable to make the road hockey game so we can get a head count.

We are required to provide photos of our boys for an upcoming tournament. In order to have them in time, we need to take the photos this Thursday. Please have your child dressed in his windsuit, and meet at the far end of the Arena by the alcove at 6pm.....pictures will start promptly at that time, so please don't be late :)
Looking forward to seeing the boys arrive looking like a team!!

Just a few updates for you in regards to where we are at with team, sponsors ect...
Jerseys...we are expecting jerseys to hopefully be in within the next week along with our windsuits YAY will be nice to see our boys looking good instead of looking like christmas trees:)
We also would like to thank the two companies who have stepped up to sponsor our jerseys, Jason Smith-Royal Service and Matthew Behm Landscaping so a big thank you to them. If you can show your support and attend the pumpkin patch event at Pingles that Jason is co hosting that would be awesome:)
Also a thank you to the companies who have sponsored our banner. We are still looking to get some more sponsors for our banner so if you know anyone who would be interested in that please let us know. Please remember the more sponsorship we get the more money the parents will get back in the end.
Starting this weekend our team will be doing an hour of power skating per week for four weeks. The first session will be at our practice this Sunday at Courtice 1pm. In order to accommodate the four weeks of power skating we had to book two extra slots of ice team which will be November 4th 430pm and November 8th 430pm both at Childrens Arena in Oshawa. So please add those dates to your calendar.

Parents Update

Hey Parents,
For those of you who were at last night’s “scrimmage”, I hope you all enjoyed what proved to be a great warm-up performance from the boys. It’s clear to all the coaches already that we’ve been blessed with a talented and smart group of players. I’m very excited to get the season underway this weekend.
Just want to give you all an update on a couple of things.
1) Games – We’ve decided to “tweak” our pre-game plan just a little to try to help the boys prepare properly. Until the wind suits arrive, please bring a set of wind pants /jogging pants and running shoes to the game. We’d like the boys dressed in long johns, the wind pants and sweater/shirt for pre-game warm-up 45 minutes before puck drop. After the warm-up they can suit up in their equipment and prepare for the game. Please have them fully dressed and ready to go before the zamboni starts clearing the ice from the previous game.
2) Website – Chris Eaton has volunteered to run a website for the team. The website will have the full schedule, team record and any team emails or news. In the future we hope to upgrade it to include photos. For now the link to the website is: http://www.hockeyclubhouse.com/claringtonthunderwhite
3) Fundraising – Our two fundraising ideas have been approved by the CRHL Executive and our fund-raising team has been hard at work getting the initial start up information collected. More information on the fundraisers will be sent out by the fund-raising team.
4) Sponsorship letters – We’ve been somewhat successful so far in arranging sponsorship for the team. We’ve managed to find two sponsors for our team jerseys and a couple of sponsors for the banner. If you require a letter for a potential sponsor outlining who we are, what we’re about and where the donation will go, please email me and I’ll send you a letter to use. We’re still looking for sponsors for the team banner.
Thanks to all for their efforts on all fronts over the last few weeks, be it fundraising ideas, filling water bottles, tightening skates etc. I’m a big believer that if the kids see the parents pulling together, they will follow suit. That will go a long way in making this a successful and fun season for all.

Lucky 7's Casino Fundraiser

Hello Select 7 White Thunder Parents!
Just wanted to let everyone know that our proposed fundraiser was approved at last night's meeting of the Executives :)
So, here are the details......
When: Saturday November 5
Where: Bathe Park Clubhouse, Eulalie St, Oshawa
What: Lucky 7's Casino Fundraiser
Expect: a main room set up with games for prizes, draws, music and cash bar, as well as a separate room set up for an ongoing POKER Tournament.
We will have tickets for everyone to start selling as soon as we can. In the meantime, tell your friends (especially the ones who like to drink, and gamble ;)
