League Champions...4 games to 2 over CYO White! But what a series...both teams played great hockey...with a rivalry that built to this all season!
Then...the Ajax Ron Sharpe Memorial Champions! With a commanding 5-0 win over Rayside-Balfour Ice...the shutout by Brandon Kane!! Proud moments.
Then we played in the Kids 4 Kids Hockey Tournament in Kingston on March 30, 31, April 1. A great experience...with a combination of 3 games played against great opponents. A fantastic win in game 3, but not enough period points to move on. It was still fun to get away for our final weekend of hockey.
An interesting season...with many challenges. It would only seem appropriate then that the two CYO teams face off against each other starting Friday March 2nd at GM Centre 2. This is the start of a 7 game "Tri-County PeeWee Championship" series between CYO Blue and CYO White...and with the quality hockey that has been seen by both of these teams throughout the year, this is sure to be a tough one. Good luck and Good Hockey!!
Last Friday at Iroquois was a fun one to be sure...for both teams! We played our PeeWee AE from 5:15pm to 6:45pm in an Exhibition Game...had a flood...then both teams had a skills competition on the same ice for the next hour and half!! A great use of premium ice time...and fun times were had by all.
Great Job to Coach Rob and Coach Oz and their assistants to help set up and co-ordinate the various skills events.
Everyone participated...Everyone got to show their 'stuff'...! We had most accurate shot, the 4 man relay, the breakaway challenge, the agility relay, the powerplay challenge...and the final event was the full team relay including the goalies!! Believe it or not...it was a tie!! It was great to see all the various skating styles...but with hard out effort by all!!
What an experience that was!! Ottawa was a great host for a great tournament. We played against a team from Korea!! We stayed at the same hotel as a team from Iqaluit, NU. We exchanged pins with hockey players from all over Ontario, Canada and Europe.
The hockey was competitive and we put up a valiant effort. But we look at this as a learning experience to see what the level of play is at hockey centres all over the world. And they came to play!!!
We also got to see the Ottawa Senators play the Calgary Flames...and some of us got to take in some of the local attractions.
The hockey was great...the experience was better!!
Crusader Hockey has its thrills and chills. The thrill of victory when the opportunity to play a game where gaining a shutout was necessary...we did it. When we had our backs to the wall...we played solid, tough hockey...we came back and made the big plays!!
What a thrill in Millbrook...where we emerged as "A" Champions over Ennismore. Congratulations Durham Crusaders!
