Clancy Tournament

It is our intent to join the Clancy tournament....so far us and the Reps have confirmed. No word on the other teams. When we know, we will let everyone know....

Rochester Tournament

Friday January 20 at 10am vs. the New England Jr. Falcons
Friday January 20 at 3:45pm vs. the Rochester Alliance
Saturday January 21 at 9:05 vs. the New Jersey Rockets
Sunday is Semi-Final and Final Day

The fourth game will depend on how we finish. We are guaranteed one playoff game. After the first 3 games, the tournament is broken up into Gold, Silver and Bronze Championships. It is a 24-team tournament and the teams are divided in each Championship Round seeded 1 through 8.

Some rules to know:

1) No body contact. In the US, body contact is introduced in Minor Bantam ages.
2) Please bring White and Orange jerseys and socks.
3) Games are 12-12-15
4) Please remember it is a tournament so games may start up to 15 minutes earlier than the start time.
5) There is a 3-minute warmup
6) 5 goal mercy rule applies as in the GTHL.
7) 4 penalties in one game will result in a suspension from the game only.

All the games are that Sports Centre at MCC.

Flexibility Training for Young Athletes

Dr Keith Overland is a member of the Fairfield County sports Commission. He practices in Norwalk as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. Dr Overland has worked as a team doctor for many local community teams, the United States Olympic Speedskating team and the New York Mets baseball team.

Ages 10 - 13:
Body mass increases at a quicker rate than gains in height at this age, which leads to increasing strength. Flexibility training should intensify in this age category. Increases in strength and changes in body mass can combine and lead to poor biomechanical habits. Often children at this age will try to short change any conditioning for a sport and just go out and play. This is a critical time in educating them in how to use their full ROM during activities.. Routines should be used that ensure kids incorporate full ROM and dynamic exercises into their training. These are often motions that mimic the activities of the sport.

10 Things I Wish I Had Done As Young Athlete

1.I wish I had spent more time static stretching.
2. I wish I paid more attention to my diet.
3. I wish I had spent more time performing metabolically correct conditioning for my sport.
4. I wish I never fell for gimmicks.
5. I wish I lifted weights during the season and not just in the summer.
6. I wish I didn't buy a body building book to learn how to lift weights.
7. If I just could have understood that it was NOT cool to fight through injuries.
8. I wish I had more access to video.
9. I wish I worked out with heavier weights and did lower reps.
10. I wish I paid attention to having fun.
