The End Of An Era

Posted by: Travis Rideout on Thu May 27th 2010 9:29am

May 27, 2010 - It is with great sadness that I announce that last year was our last as coaches of the Flin Flon Pee Wee AA Bombers. Flin Flon Minor Hockey has decided to go in a different direction with this year's staff, we disagree, but respect their decision.
We would like to thank all the players and parents that we had the distinct opportunity to coach and meet these past four seasons. We didn't meet our ultimate goal of winning a Provincial Gold Medal, but we did exceed all other expectations by getting to know great people and developing great players and young gentlemen. We will take with us great memories of not only the action but the good times we shared with so many people over the course of these past years.
We put a lot of time and effort into the clubs we coached and hopefully the people respect and appreciate that. We would like to wish the returning players the best of luck next season.

Sincerely,

Travis, Ryan, Jon & Bryce.

Bombers Finish 6th In Province - Great End To Season

Posted by: Travis Rideout on Thu Mar 18th 2010 10:24am

The Flin Flon Pee Wee AA Bombers finished up their 2009 - 10 season with an emotional roller coaster ride this past weekend in Dauphin, the site for the 2010 Pee Wee AA Provincials.
After losing their opening game to the Swan Valley Stampderes on Friday night, the team routed the Thompson King Miners 8 - 2, on the strength of 7 points by Captain Riley Nowlin, and then finshed up the round robin with a big come from behind victory over the Morden Hawks. The team finished the round robin with a 2 - 1 record, for most seasons good enough to move on to the medal rounds, but due to a Swan River win over Thompson, there was a three team tie for first. Due to the Goals For/Against Percentage, the Bombers were on the outside looking in.
"It's dis-heartening to have a big emotional win like that (against Morden) and then to find out it's not enough." said Coach Travis Rideout after the final game on Saturday. "It's tough to tell the guys that we kicked Thompson's ass and then had a huge come from behind win, to tell them that it wasn't good enough."
The team fell to the host Dauphin Kings 6 - 4 in the Consolation Final on Sunday.
The news now is next year, will the coaching staff comeback and what will the team look like for the 2010-11 season.
"We're (coaches) going to take some time and think about next season. The team will be great, good enough to compete for gold. We'll have a good core coming back, starting with goaltending and scoring up front."
The coaching staff would like to thank this year's players and parents for a great season, and would like to wish the graduating players the best of luck next season. These players are Willy Eikel, Jody Tait, Devin Quinn, Evan Linnick, Matthew Sewap, Michael DuRussel, and Riley Nowlin.

Warman Wildcats Win Feszczyn Cup - Bombers Place 2nd

Posted by: Travis Rideout on Mon Feb 15th 2010 12:40pm

The visiting Warman Wildcats beat the home team Flin Flon Pee Wee AA Bombers this past weekend, including the final to claim the 2009 - 10 Feszczyn Cup.
The Bombers had a great weekend, finishing second with a 2 - 2 record, with big wins against the Dauphin Kings on Friday 9 - 2 and then an overtime nailbiter against rival The Pas Huskies.
"It was a great weekend for our team in means of our progression going into Provincials." said Assistant Coach Ryan Bortis after the loss on Sunday.
The Bombers opened up against the Kings on Friday with the dominating win, lost to the Wildcats on Saturday morning 8 - 3 then beat the Huskies in the semi-final with a 6 - 5 OT win.
"We are hopefully peaking at the right time," said Bortis. "the OT winner was a big one in that we got the Huskies monkey off of our backs. We now have been successful against most the team we'll face in Provincials."
The team has the month off of Tournament action in preperation for Dauphin and Provincials on March 12 - 14.
