The Oak Lake Icemen will open up their best-of-5 semifinal series with the Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks on the road, in Elkhorn on Saturday, March 5 at 8:30pm. Game 2 is scheduled for the following night, Sunday, March 6 in Oak Lake at 7:00pm. Elkhorn will host Game 3 the following Saturday, March 12. Game 4, if necessary, will be played in Oak Lake, and should a fifth and deciding game be necessary, Elkhorn would once again be the venue.
In the other semifinal series, the Roblin Northstars will travel to Grandview to face the defending champion Comets for game 1 on Sunday, March 6. Grandview will also host games 3 and 5 (if necessary), with games 2 and 4 being played in Roblin.
The Icemen won 6-2 in Shoal Lake on Saturday, Feb. 26, sweeping their best-of-5 quarterfinal series in 3 games. Details will be posted when they become available.
Oak Lake took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-5 quarterfinal series with the Eagles, winning 9-6 at home on Friday, Feb. 25. Jaye Judd, Landon Desjardin, and Ross Sheard each scored twice for the Icemen, with Dustin Hildebrand, Matt Rey, and Ken Mott adding singles. Darcy Simard made his second start in as many games in the playoffs, and stopped 34 shots for the win. Oak Lake now has a chance to close out the series on the road, in Shoal Lake on Saturday, Feb. 26. Game time is 8:00pm.
The Oak Lake Icemen drew first blood in their Quarterfinal matchup with the Eagles, winning 7-5 at home on Sunday, Feb. 20. Richard Didluck and Justin Watters each scored twice to lead the Icemen, who had 6 different players with a multi-point game. Adam Hetherington, Jaye Judd, and Dustin Hildebrand scored singles for the Icemen. Darcy Simard recorded the win in the penalty-filled affair, which saw the two teams combine for over 100 minutes in penalties, including numerous double-minors, one major penalty, four separate 10-minute misconducts, and two game ejections. Game 2 of the series goes Friday, Feb. 25 in Oak Lake. Game time is 8:30pm.
After finishing the regular season in 4th place with a record of 15 wins, 6 losses, and 1 overtime loss, the Oak Lake Icemen will square off against the 5th place Shoal Lake Eagles in a best-of-5 quarterfinal matchup. Oak Lake will host the first two games of the series, Sunday, Feb. 20 at 7:00pm, and Friday, Feb. 25 at 8:00pm.
In the other quarterfinal series' taking place, the 6th place Reston Rockets will face the 3rd place Roblin Northstars, the 7th place Minnedosa Bombers play the 2nd place Grandview Comets, and the Hamiota Huskies and Virden Oil Kings have come down to a 1-game playoff for the 8th and final playoff spot, and the right to face the regular season champion Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks.
