Flames end the season with a tie

Flames finished their 2007-2008 playoff round robin with a 3-3 tie against the Habs on Saturday. Flames started the game with a bang - two goals from J.P. inside the first minute of play, with a third added by Kaden on a deflection with less than 2 minutes left to play in the first period. This was the most goals scored by the team in one period all season. Assists for the second goal went to Carson, and for the third goal to Scott, the first goal being unassisted. Unfortunately for the Flames, the Habs picked away for the remaining two periods, finalizing their scoring with a last minute tying goal in the third period. Flames were unable to add to their first period tally, as the game got chippy, and penalties were assessed to both sides, the majority to the Habs. Flames finished the round robin in fourth place behind the Canucks, with Habs in last.
The Sharks and Oilers advanced to the semi-final on Sunday.

Flames were mathmatically eliminated from a semi-final berth today, losing 3-0 to the Oilers. In a lackluster performance, the Flames were unable to come up with any goals against the Oilers, who bagged two in the first, and another early in the third period for the shutout win. With only 1 game to go in the round robin, Flames, Habs and Canucks were all eliminated today. Canucks blew the Habs away 6-1 in the 3pm matchup, but to no avail as the Oilers clinched their spot by defeating the Flames. The round robin playoffs end on March 29th with Sharks vs. Oilers for first place, and Flames vs. Habs in what will now be an exhibition match.
