Congratulations Ice Destroyers. We are the Champions.
You all played with heart, and you played as a team. Hockey is a team sport, not a sport for individuals. We played like a team and won like a team. I am very proud of all of you.
It took us half the season to come together and play as a team. I looked at the stats, we only had three losses since Christmas and only one loss since we came back from winning the Bronze at the Canadian Cup in Montreal, that loss was in the playoffs, and we redeemed our self’s after that loss, and didn't lose another one. Way to go boys!!!
I think if we played ten more games we wouldn't lose, you guys are the best Novice Team in the world.
I would like to thank the other coaches, Darcy, Trent, and Grant, Thank you so much!! I would not have been able to get through the season without you. Trent I will let the two many men penalty in the finals slide...
Manager Manager Manager.... Anthony, you have been great, the best manager a team could ask for. Thank you so much for making the season run smoothly.
Party Mamas.... Emma, Michelle, & Meg. Thank you guys for organizing all the outings this season, without you guys, the team would not be a team. All the get togethers really are what bring the players in as a team. Emma thank you for remembering all the boys’ birthdays.
Triple T, you Girls were fantastic!!! Your cheering squad grew as the season went on, Triple T & the Sisters... your support all season help bring home the Championship trophy, you earned the trophy just as much as the boys did, Great work.
Ice Destroyer (Champions) Parents...
Great work, I know it’s not easy to get out of bed for the early practices and games, sitting in the cold are not fun either. And I know that some of the practices were not too entertaining to watch, but come game day they made up for it! None of this would have been possible without you guys, from your dedication on getting the boys out of bed in the morning, to lacing up the skates and not to mention the cost.
I told the boys before our last game, “I don't care what the score is at the end of the game, just go out and have fun. You guys are already champions, but let’s go out there and win this one for your parents your number one fans".
That Video showed a lot, you parents help the boys win the Championship too, the players really react to the fans and you ALL did a fantastic job, Thank you.
On a personal note, I really enjoyed this year coaching your boys, at the start of the year, I thought to myself, "What have I gotten myself into" I was wondering if I made the right choice to coach or not... Well I think I did, I have made new friends that I am glad I met, I had so much fun this year, I will continue coaching for years to come, however... I don't know if the 2011-2012 year with the Novice B Champs the Ice Destroyers will ever be topped. I am going to miss The Destroyers!!!
Go Destroyers Go..
Sincerely
Rogers TV will be coming to film the game on Saturday. they are coming to film both the game and the fans. The Destroyers Fans have been outstanding this year! Rogers Tv wanted to showcase the dedication and the team spirit that everyone of you have. So lets show them what you got!! GO DESTROYERS !!!
Before the start of last game, this is what was said to the boys.
"Great moments are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here today boys.
That's what you've earned here, today.
One game.
If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not today.
Today, we skate with 'em. Today, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can!
Today, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players -- every one of ya.
And you were meant to be here today.
This is your time.
Their time, is done.
It's over.
This is your time!!
Now go out there and take it!"

It seamed to work, as the Ice Destroyers came out flying. from when the puck was dropped at the start of the first I knew we had this game, our Destroyers, didn't give up they fought every second of every shift! Best game all year.
Even with the Jets scoring the first goal of the game with under a minute left in the second, that wasn't going to stop us, nothing would slow the Destroyers down. the coaches had some choice words with the boys durning the second intermission. The Destroyers responded in the first minute of the of the third with the Birthday Boy Franco, parked in front of the net he takes a pass from Gucc, and pops in his first goal of the season. with the game all tied up, it looked like we were headed to overtime, but the Destroyers were not giving up that easy, fighting until the sound of the buzzer, we wanted it to end, and that it did, with Dylan taking a pass from Coleman, and fighting for the biscuit in the corner, Dylan comes out with the puck and shoots it on net from the top of the circle, the puck squeaks by to end the Jets season with only three ticks left on the clock.
Way to go boys, way to fight till the end.
all we need to do to keep winning, is to keep playing the way we are now, if we do, I guarantee that no one will beat us!!
"Keep Up The Great Work" that goes for the Destroyers Fan Club too, you guys have been great all season, keep it up!!! you keep the boys in the game!!
Coach
Steve
Well everyone, I think that we have had a great season so far! Players and Parents both (siblings & Grand parents too). Great Team spirit from every one! I have yet to see another team that cheers there team on like our Fans do, Keep it up and this weekend lets be the loudest we have been all season. it really gets the boys pumped up when we hear the crowd cheering us on.
Boys,
We have a couple games left in the round robin, so lets go out with a bang, and really pump it to the other teams. "pone them" (as some of the boys say)
Skate hard every play, don't give up, quick shifts to keep your legs fresh.
We have to keep the front of our net clear and crash the other teams net! shoot shoot shoot, we have to shoot. you will miss 100 percent of the shots you don`t take, I promise!!
Skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has been. Play Smart.
So lets play hard and use every thing we have taught you this year. I remember, Have fun out there.
Coach
Steve
It was a close one for the Ice Destroyers over the Delson Senateurs. With Coleman back in the line up after missing the previous game due to injury.
The destroyers were down by 2 early in the 1st, then Gucc jammed in his sixth goal of the season, assisted by Brando, & Goodier both with their 7th of the year.
Half way threw the 1st the Destroyers shut Delsons power-play down while the team’s goal leader Weicker feels his shame in the sin bin.
The Destroyers tie up the game early in the 2nd with Shoe guts in the box Weicker pops in his 17th of the season and Dyl getting his 9th assist of the season on the play.
Delson got a quick goal to regain the lead at the start of the third, but with Grimey in the box Weicker gets his 2nd goal of the game his 9th point of the tournament assisted by Brando on defence his 2nd of the game to knot the game at 3
With just under six minutes to go in the third, Anthony Shoe Guts Arena pops in what turns out to be the game winner, off the skate of a Delson defenseman, the assists from the team’s enforcer Ferro, and the Ice Destroyers penalty leader Grimey.
With the game winding down Delson and that little number 44 had the pressure on, Coach Steve calls a time out, to regroup and to throw Delson off their game. With just under two minutes to go in the game Delson pulls their goalie and with the pressure on and the fans on their feet number 31 Cherkas keep the Destroyers in the game by standing on his head between the pipes and earns the player of the game, while his team takes home the bronze in Montreal.
The celebration in the dressing room was great, singing and dancing, along with the locals favourite beverages.
Great Game Boys!!!
