Week in Review..

Sorry I have not updated our recent successes over the past week (I guess that is because we have been on the ice sooo much...lol) I know I am sounding like a broken record (I hope it is like that all season though) but every time you guys step on the ice you are getting better and better. Playing harder. smarter and more effective hockey!! We know this not only by watching you but also by the continued success you are having. A last second goal to tie us in Parkhill with their goalie pulled was a lucky point for North Middlesex. We need to check those birth certificates of the Bantam sized players next time. But nonetheless a hard fought battle for the whole game. We carried that momentum over to the Schomberg tournament where we really took it to those three teams with a total team effort in each of the games. Outstanding performances from both TJ and Ty keep us in the games early. Then some excellent defence in both our end and at their blue line, set up countless smooth transitions that lead score chances galore. Most of which we did capitalize on. The scoring was spread around nicely. Although when we need to open the game up and separate us from them, Jackson found his wheels and went wide all day!! Jackson chipped in a boat load of goals and was named Tournament MVP. Great job. Then a rematch with Ilderton Jets from our exhibition road lose. We continued to roll and took it to them on Tuesday. Another solid game in net by JT, super D from all 6 defencemen and some slick moves by Simon (hat trick), and a couple by Damian left the smaller bench of the Jets grounded. Great work boys!! Keep shooting when we are in the "Shooting Zone", drive the net for rebounds, and back check "ALL" the way back picking up an open man. These are the things that will continue to make us better. See you today at 1:10 in Komoka. Whew...that was a lot to talk about.

PS> Had a great time on Saturday night with the parents too!!!! We are lucky to have such a great group. Paula has some super pictures too.

Road Victory!!

A 4-2 road win over the experienced St. Thomas Stars again today. That is a big 4 pts. for us in the home and home series. Ty came up with several superb saves (several on breakaways!!) Great job Ty!! The winning goal came off the solid work ethic of Cole. Stick on the ice and when the puck hit his blade it was ripped into the bottom corner. Great job Cole!! Textbook back checking from Luke and Simon snuffing out certain scoring chances. Luke and Damian scored to give us some breathing room and then Jackson put us out ahead to finish the game off. Great job guys. Keep those sticks on the ice and drive for the rebounds!! See you guys bright and early tomorrow.

4-2 Win over St. Thomas

We took on a team made up of experienced 2003's, and came away with a BIG WIN!!!!! JT played an awesome game in net, making many key saves to keep us in the game (2 on breakaways). A sweet move by Tyler on the point to keep the puck in and throw it at the net. Charlie going to the net with his stick on the ice and deflects it in the corner for his first goal of the season and the game winner...way to go Charlie!! Josh had two goals tonight as well (even if he really only took one shot..oh well, they all look like breakaways on the game sheet right Josh!!??. Damian gave us a little breathing room on a nice short side shot for an insurance goal.Another solid Defensive game from Cooper, Ethan, Parker and Adian. Solid forecheck from all three lines. Remember to keep shooting from the hash marks and crash the net for rebounds!!!

Oh ya, and keep your Stick ON THE ICE..... See everyone Sat 12:30 in St. Thomas (Timken arena)

Super effort tonight boy's!!

3-3 tie tonight vs a strong St. Mary's team!! Coaches are very pleased with the progress you are making boy's. Our fore checking was top notch when we got the puck deep into their zone (let's keep getting that puck deep when we cross the redline). Defence stepped up and forced them to make hurried shots or no shot at all. Great job. JT made some great saves on a very powerful St. Mary's team. Keep shooting when we get into the hash mark area when given the chance and crash for rebounds....we are going to start scoring in bunches when this all comes together boy's. Like we said in the dressing room after "we are getting better every time we step on the ice"....Keep it up.

Great Start to the 2011-12 Season!!

Great team effort today boy's!! Despite playing almost half the game shorthanded (14 min's), we stuck to the game plan for the most part (get it deep & get on it, lots of shots and in our own end get it outside the blue line). Some pretty goals by Jackson (5 -never take a slapshot on a break-a-way though...lol) and Luke. Great hustle from the forwards and solid defence from the back end too (almost a full two min's of 5-3). Ty made some outstanding saves to keep us in it. We seem to be getting better every time we step on the ice. Keep it up boy's. The season is off and running!!
