Game 4
8-2 loss today! We were very ineffective in the defensive zone in the first 30 minutes; we were down 6-0 at the half way point and managed to turn things around in the second half of the game. The bright spot in our game was the efforts of both goaltenders today.
They battled hard!
Overall I was pleased with our efforts, with the exception of today's first period and a 1/2.

Game #3
Bantam Black wins 8-4 vs. Nelson in the second game of the day.
1-0 Bantam Black opened the scoring.
Nelson replied 1-1 and then took the lead 2-1. Needless to say I was a little concerned about our approach and our inability to defend responsibly.
We adjusted and finished the 1st period up 3-2. A brief chat during the 1st intermission led to a 3-1 goal outburst in the 2nd to give us some breathing room and we led after 2 periods 6-3.
We added 2 more in the third to seal the win 8-4.
We have a tough test tomorrow @ 9:00 AM against Rossland/Trail.
The boys have made some significant progress in many areas of team and individual play this weekend.
We want to cap off the weekend with a positive performance tomorrow.
Regards
Blake
Game #2
Bantam Black lose to Castlegar today 4-2. I was happy with our commitment, determination and motivation.
It was an emotionally charged game. We out chanced them but the reality is they outscored us today.
Castlegar scored two of their goals with the man advantage and we did not covert on our power play.
We were down (3-0) 30 minutes through the game and forged back to score 2 goals in the third period, unfortunately a late penalty sealed our fate and they stretched the lead to 4-2.
Once again we pulled our goalie with 2:15 seconds to go and generated several chances and did not find the back of the net.
We need to strengthen our focus on finishing off our scoring opportunities.
Kudos to Castlegar.....they were the better team this weekend.
We have to regroup quickly. We play Nelson at 3:45.

Game#1
Bantam Black battled hard vs. Kelowna in our opening game tonight here in Castlegar. It was a playoff intensity game.
We had the territorial advantage in the first period and we were unable to capitalize on our scoring chances.
Kelowna answered back with a push in the second ½ of the first period. They scored two goals in the first period. Their first goal coming from a neutral zone breakdown and then they scored their second goal off of the rush on a good individual effort by a shifty Kelowna forward.
We regrouped in the second and came back to score midway through the second to make it 2-1.
Later in the second we went down 3-1 as a result of missed assignments in defensive zone.
In the third we replied to draw within one again and pressured right to the final buzzer. We weren’t able to light the lamp to even the score in regulation.
Moving forward to tomorrow we play Castlegar @ 11:15 and then Nelson @ 3:45.
Sunday vs. Rossland/Trail.

Bantam Black had an exciting finish today vs. Seattle. It was hard earned point and it was a very good weekend for the boys. The competition was what we needed to prepare for our upcoming event in Castlegar. I was very pleased with everyone’s effort in both games this weekend.
This morning the boys were behind 1-0 with two minutes remaining in the 3rd period. We were pressing tenaciously and faced some unfortunate adversity. We were on the offensive and there was a mid ice collision and we were assessed a minor penalty with less than two minutes to play.
I wasn’t sure how we would react, we gave the guys the green light to attack from the ensuing faceoff in the neutral zone. Carson Moyes battled for the loose puck into the offensive zone and beat the goalie with a redirected shot that knotted the game with a short-handed goal. The goal celebration was awesome and our response to killing off their man advantage was the lift our guys needed to finish the weekend!!!
Brandon Davison had a very strong performance in goal.
It was a very good experience and I am thoroughly impressed with our improvements over the last couple of weeks.

Bantam Black played well today to earn consecutive victories this weekend. The result today was a 7-4 victory.
This was a completely different game today. Castlegar was very tenacious on their forecheck which gave us some problems in our defensive zone.
We learned several lessons from this weekend. We have to work on the mental side of our game and control our emotions.
We played over the edge today....We had 20 mins in minor penalties. Way too many short handed situations which shifted the momentum to Castlegar on several occasions primarily in the second period..
Scores by period
1-1 First period
5-2 Second period
7-4 Final score
On a very positive note we generated 12 goals and gave up 4 goals against in the two games.
Now we have to prepare for our series this weekend vs Seattle.
Saturday February 18th 2012 vs Castlegar - 2:15PM @ OHS
We played an outstanding team game today aginst Castlegar. The result was 5-0 shutout against a very good Castlegar team. Carson Schamerhorn was strong in goal and we limited ouropponents time and space in the defensive zone. This was a gritty determined bunch today!
The scoring by periods:
First period 1-0
Second period 2-0
Third period 3-0
I was proud of the team for their positional play and emotional discipline adjustments. There have been occasions when we have played shorthanded too many times. We were rewarded because of our efforts, focus and concentration these were the keys to our success and propelled us on to victory. Well done Boys!
