Well it?s that time of year again as another great season comes to an end! This year we have planned the year end banquet to take place Thursday, April 23rd for all teams. It will again take place at the C.A.W. Local 222 Hall (directly beside Ice Sports Arena). Come celebrate new friendships with your team with food, drinks and awards. Please remember to wear your team jersey as well!
Kids are to be dropped off and picked back up by the below times.
Team schedules are as follows:
7:30?8:45: all Rep Peewee (including Black Hawks) and Bantam

Hey Raiders
I would like to thank everyone on the team, on the bench, and on the sidelines
for a wonderful year. Unfortunately, we didn't do that well but we had a wonderful
time in the states. I want to wish good luck to all of those interested in trying out
for the Whitby teams. Thanks coach's for a great year. Everyone improved a lot
and had some fun doing that to.
See you all at the banquet.
Shane.

Well Raiders, another season is over !!
I'd like to thank all the players for their efforts this year and their contributions to the "team". I know that losing can really start to get to the players after a while, but I hope they all had some fun, made some new friends and maybe learned a few things along the way.
Thanks to all the parents for your support during the season and for your fund raising efforts ! Thanks to our awesome fund raising committee for the amazing work and efforts put in to making this season a success for our boys.
Thanks to our team staff Kevin V., Kevin A., trainer Steve and manager Jeff for all their hard work and commitment to our boys.
Thanks to all our awesome sponsors and those that brought the sponsorships to our team !!
My plans for next year are still somewhat up in the air as Zach wants to take a crack at the Whitby AE team. If he does not make the team, I expect to be back with the Raiders next season. Good luck to the other boys trying out for Whitby - give it your best shot !!
A couple of highlights from this season: started off great with a team pool party and a golf tournament !! Who can forget Kevin V.'s dryland torture clinic ! Nottawasaga Inn in November.....Cleveland in January and Pittsburgh in March + the Penguins game...what a blast !!
Some late night poker with the parents !! Jerk chicken cook off in December (Tam still wants a re-match). The Pub Night in October !!
Including tournaments, every player rec'd a player of the game....points spread out pretty evenly...how about not a single penalty minute all year for Conor V. (Zach and Jordan picked up the slack in that category !!) How about some new friends for everyone !! Hockey Night In Canada in March + a Scotiabank pizza party + newspaper photos and interviews etc....
All very cool ! So even though we lost more that we won, it was a great year to be a Raider !! Hope everyone felt the same way and we can continue our friendships throughout the summer and into next season wherever we all end up !
There will still be a bit of business that we need to clear up as Jeff now has the pleasant task of balancing the books, so we'll likely be in touch again.
I hope to see many of you at our try-outs this spring and am hoping that we can bring back some of the same boys for next season !
See you at the banquet !
Good luck Raiders and thank-you !!
Grant

OSHAWA -- The Durham Raiders Minor Bantam hockey team will get its 15 minutes of fame on Saturday night.
The Raiders welcomed a film crew from the CBC to the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa on Tuesday, where a segment was taped to be aired during Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts across the country Saturday.
As Scotiabank Hockey Tonight Kids, the minor league hockey team will be introducing games on the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m., including the Toronto Maple Leaf's match against the Edmonton Oilers in this region.
"When you think about the fact that these are 13-year-old kids who probably watch Hockey Night in Canada every Saturday, to see some of their heroes out there on the ice and to be part of that show, will be pretty amazing for them," says Grant Wright, the team's head coach.
Wright, who's from Whitby along with many of his players, couldn't say enough about the sponsorship opportunities presented by Scotiabank, which will treat the team to a pizza party at Sgt. Peppers in Whitby that night.
The Raiders are one of only 25 teams across the country chosen to participate in the Hockey Night in Canada program.
"We're in the middle of the playoffs now and we're on a bit of a losing streak, but this was a great opportunity for the boys to sort of put that behind them and have some fun," Wright says. "They're really looking forward to seeing this on TV."
Scotiabank introduced the program last year, to great success.
"The Scotiabank Hockey Tonight Kids program was an absolute hit with the kids last year and we're thrilled to be calling up another 25 teams this season," Scotiabank branch manager Enno Kaasik said in a press release. "Scotiabank has always been proud of our support of minor hockey in Canada and we hope this program gives kids a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to feel the excitement of Hockey Night in Canada and the big leagues."
