UPDATE

I hope everyone had a good time this weekend at the wind-up party. The kids were well behaved...thanks for the fun year! We did not win a lot of games and lost more than what we should have, but the kids seemed to always have fun in the dressing room and while at the events...having fun and meeting new people and forming new friendships is what it's all about...so to that point I thank you all as I did all of those :) Enjoy the summer and see you next year around the rink!

UPDATE

Hi All,

The annual year-end banquet is coming up:

When: April 30th

Where: Elk's Hall (get there early for a parking spot...maybe be prepared to park across from the Gardens)

Time: 6:30pm

Cost: Players are FREE, but parent is $10.00 and you pay at the door

Due to lack of space only one parent can attend, if for some reason if you cannot make it, please let me know as I can either pickup your child or assist in arranging a ride. This is a fun event for the kids, they get to see their teammates again and other buddies from the other Elks teams. Please respond to the email from the web-site to confirm you are going as I need to update the organizers to confirm space etc.

UPDATE

Well team...we are in finals!!!!!!!!!!

This is what we wanted all year to make it to the finals and play for a championship. Regardless of what the outcome is we coaches could not be more proud of this team. We have had the pleasure of getting to know some really cool kids and parents. Now hopefully we can add a championship to the list.

All of the games are posted on the schedule - this is a 4-point series, meaning which team gets 4-points first will win the championship - with only game #4 (if needed) going into OT.

See you all on Tuesday, March 27th @ 6:30pm - TC#1.

LMHA Playoff Rules:

Atom and PeeWee – 15 teams broken into 3 divisions based on regular season standings

A -- teams 1-5, B -- teams 6-10, C -- teams 11-15

Each divison will play a round robin and the top 4 in each division play on--1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 in a 1 game semi-final. The winners will advance to play 4 point series with OT available in 4th game only.

Playoff Schedule (we are seeded 14th):

Saturday, February 25th @ 3pm - CR Arena - we play WF Off the Street (13th Seed)...we are the home team

Monday, February 27th @ 7:30pm - CR Arena - we play Elks Kings (15th seed)...we are the visiting team

Thursday, March 8th @ 8:00pm - Neebing Arena - we play Neebing Hawks (12th seed)...we are the home team.

Based on how we make out in the round robin will determine when we play next.

Please note I had to cancel our practice on this Saturday at FWFN as this will conflict with our first playoff game. I just received the schedule today and we will for sure be playing on this Saturday. We will know for sure by Friday at what time we will be playing on this Saturday.

UPDATE

I hope all of you enjoyed the trip to Eden Prairie as much as we did - it was a lot of fun and I thought the kids played great...especially in the 3rd game. A big thanks goes out to Steve Ford and Brian Prochnicki for covering some bench duties this weekend...thanks boys!

At the beginning of the season we coaches had a team mission statement and part of this mission was to establish friendships that will last a lifetime and promote the development of the athletic and social skills of our children and I can say we have done this! I saw a group of kids having a blast, each interacting with each other and even some of the quieter kids were speaking :)...now how do you get them to stop talking? lol

We will be entering the playoffs very soon and it appears we may have stumbled across some productive line combinations this weekend that should for sure assist us in the post season...Austyn Melvin was voted the player of the game by the other team (Hopkins) in the 3rd game (Sunday) - congratulation Austyn - I guess I need to keep tying your skates :(

See you all this Wednesday, February 22nd @ 7:30pm (TC#1) - we play Westfort Off the Street.

I will know very soon when we play our first playoff game...so I will keep all of you posted.

We have some hardware!!!!

CONGRADULATION FLYERS - finishing 4th in the CCT tournament is a job well done. There were 12-teams in this event and we were one of the top 4!

It was a fun weekend...lots of excitement and some great hockey - looks like our team is peaking in time for the playoffs, which begin February 23rd...Yeah that's right - the season is coming to an end - seems like it was just the other day we were starting :)

Bus to Eden Prairie

I will need the following:

* Who is going on the bus?
* I need the passenger's birth dates.
* You need to be sure that players have their birth certificates with them and the parents will need passports.
* Players travelling without a parent will also need a letter of consent.
* You may also want to purchase out of country medical insurance.

I will start approaching you over the next month to gather the above information - feel free to email me anytime with this information as this will save me having to ask you.

Happy New Year Everyone!

We have a very busy couple of months ahead of us...we will be participating in 3-tournaments:

January 12-15, 2012 - Robin's (PAMHA)

Advance passes will be $10.00, I will use the Neebing tournament as the benchmark to pre-order the passes for this event, so if you expect any different from what you purchased for the Neebing event then please let me know - if I do not hear back from you then I assume same as last time :)
I expect to see the schedule sometime this week for this tournament - I have checked the roster of participating teams and there are lots of out-of-town teams in this event so hopefully we will see some different opponents:

Manitouwadge
Marathon
Geraldton
Nipigon
Atikokan
Fort Frances

Once I get this schedule, I will put the games on the web-site.


February 2-5, 2012 - Elk's Central Canada

The advance passes for this event are $12.00 and as mentioned above I will order the same amount as needed for the Neebing event unless otherwise notified not to etc.
You will not have to volunteer at this event, but you will be required to volunteer at the Elk's Tom Thumb/Atom Tournament - March 29-April 1, 2012 - the Elk's do it this way to allow for a better chance for the parents to watch their child play...so for our tournament the Atom parents will be volunteering at the rinks. That being said if you wanted to volunteer at both events please let me know :) Otherwise all I need you for is for the Atom event at the end of March.
