Hi all,
Shane’s last e-mail, my first & last e-mail. I would also like to thank everyone for their generous gifts.
For me the greatest gift that was given to me this year was the ability to be able to be a part of the growth of not only a hockey player but of a 7 year old. To say this season was enjoyable is an understatement. These kids were a lot of fun to be around. Their determination, work ethic and willingness to learn how to play the game the right way is a credit to all of them.
If there is one word that was used the most the season to the kids it was “TEAM”. Trying to get these kids to understand how important each and everyone of them were to the team. It didn’t take long as the kids were always coming up with new chants. My favourite 2,4,6,8 who do we appreciate “Thunder”.
The goal for this coaching staff was to make this season a success for everyone. Success has many meanings. For me personally success is not measured by wins or losses, goals or assists. It was about the growth and development of a hockey player and a 7 year old.
Every team needs a coach & every coach needs a team. I believe the Clarington Thunder Black “STORM” was a team that everyone was proud to be a part of. From the players, coaches, parents & siblings that was the “TEAM”. From what I saw Saturday night that is what I consider SUCCESS.
Thanks to everyone it was a blast working with all your kids.
To the kids thanks for the memories
Coach Mike
Hi All,
One final email, just to say thank you to everyone for all the support and help throughout the year. The 2009-2010 season was a total success! Special thanks to the Forsyths again, for entertaining the entire team. Although the hockey tournament didn't go as well as we hoped this weekend, I think the kids really enjoyed themselves. Curling, tailgating and the get together Saturday night was an excellent way to end the year . The food was fabulous, the beer was cold and fun was had by all.
Good luck to all the kids in the upcoming tryouts. No matter where you play, work hard and most importantly have fun!!
Could anyone who plans on being at the final 2 optional skates, please email myself or Kim so we can get a final number. I will try for a minimum 10 kids, at $10 a skate. If we don't have enough, I will talk to the Clarington White kids.
Thank you all so much for the hockey frame and gift certificate, unnecessary but very much appreciated.
Thanks again and hope to see you around the arenas next year.
Coach Shane
Another great effort from team Storm!! We came up a little short, but I know we put a good scare into the Panthers. They didn't finish in first place for no reason, they are a good team and we gave them all they could handle.
This team has a lot to be proud of, like beating Barrie three straight, winning the St. Thomas tourney, beating the undefeated Panthers and coming together as a team at the perfect time. Your parents and coaches are very proud of everything you did all year long.
Although playoffs are now over, we still have some practices, hopefully a tournament and a couple of exhibition games. Let's finish out strong and have lots of fun in March!
See everyone Saturday,
Coach Shane
Keep your head up team. A few bounces and a little more luck, the outcome would have been different. We know this series is far from over, especially knowing we're going back home with the crowd behind us.
Let's have a really good practice Tuesday, rest up on Wednesday and get right back at it Thursday night. Like I said, the coaches and all the parents are really proud of every one of you and we all know you can do it!!
See everyone Tuesday,
Coach Shane
Way to go Storm!!! It all started Thursday night with a huge win over the formerly undefeated Panthers. Now we are the 2010 St. Thomas Jr. Stars Tyke Classic CHAMPS.
The coaching staff and all the parents are really proud of the way you all performed on the ice and represented Clarington Thunder the whole weekend. You guys should be proud of yourselves.
Lets keep rolling Monday night. If we all work hard, compete and play as a team we will beat them again.
See everyone Monday 5:00pm.
Coach Shane
