Over It is
Over It is

Tailgators’, What a year it has been! There were ups and there were downs throughout the season for all of us. Troy took over the teams scoring prowess followed closely by Justin “Not as ready mixed” Menzies. The goaltending while not always consistent got better as the year went on and the team started to come together. Working together instead of working as individuals and fighting was a huge accomplishment for us moving forward as a team.

Moving forward into next year I see great things with The Tailgators’ as a team. I strongly hope we have the same guys out next year as we did this year as it has been great playing with all of you out there. Win or lose. It is also great to see every one improve throughout the year whether it be individually or as a team player.

The Shockers Shootout Tournament was one of the greatest things I’ve ever got to participate in. I had a ridiculous amount of fun going out there and giving it my all to try and win it. We/I came up short in the end but I will always remember the Bulldogs game, and Justus’ speech between periods. So inspiring…. But really, coming back from 3-1 down and kicking their ass and our team celebration at the end. It was awesome.

So in final, for my last write up of the year, It was a blast this season, look forward to playing with you all next year, and kicking every teams ass and dominating all tournies that we should enter.

Till next time,
Corey

Oh look! Another Loss

6-6-6
6-6-6

Since our team apparently has the attention span of a 5 year old attending their first day of school. I will keep this short. We played the Devils in Fuller Lake. We lost. That makes it three losses in a row after having a pretty decent streak going. So lets not get to down on ourselves, keep on working, skating, hustling, and take a few days here to rest.

Express on Thursday, home game. Let's take our frustrations out on them and get this ship back on track.

Also, Britt... you ok?

Double the Write up - Twice the losses

Some one should tell her to turn around
Some one should tell her to turn around

Hey look, a write up. I am going to be pulling double duties for this one and combine our last two (awful) efforts into one (awesome) write-up. Where should I begin, oh lets start with what I am referring to as the “Superbowl Debacle.” For the people who didn’t attend this game let me explain in detail what this was all about. It was Superbowl Sunday, an event that usually leads to people eating and drinking way more then their body is meant to take. It also apparently means people have naps and sleep past game time, made worse by the fact they were supposed to pick some one up on the way.

So we started the game against the Tubbers with seven guys on our bench. One of those seven was Fuj, who before the game thought Justus was Justin, Briggs was Troy, jesus was a teletubbie and that he was at a tennis match. But that’s not all when it comes to our boy Fuj, he had a self goal in the game, a deke, toe drag and buried the puck to the back of the net behind me. That was the low point to a very bad game played short handed even when guys showed up. Oh well, we know we can take it to the Tubbers, so next time (if there is a next time) We can beat them again.

Oh, we lost the game 8-2 or something, maybe 8-3?

Whalers err 26ers on a Wednesday night, a team we can never beat. And on this night, it was no different. What an all around piss poor performance, starting from the goaltending out. Not sure what it is about playing them but we can never put a good game forth and just beat them.

The highlight of the night was Tenacious Spit Fire D flying up the ice with the puck blowing by Jesus (even if it wasn’t Jesus on the ice I want to pretend that it was for write-up purposes) and going far side back hand on Alex. Great goal and you will notice I have given you both assists on that goal as well.

Low point of the night was Justin getting a few blocker shots in the face from Alex for what in my opinion looked like a very minor (accidental) slash on his glove. It was very unnecessary, especially with all the hacking and slashing going on in my crease throughout the night. But what’s done is done and time to move on. Britt scored, it was upsetting. I am really hoping some one comes forth and says they tipped that shot. Would be much appreciated.

A Quick Little Update on the Team!

Breaking!
Breaking!

Alright, we played The Possums last night. It was a hard fought battle that ended in a "tie." Reguardless of the score it was a good team effort with some decent goaltending and strong defensive zone play. But, instead of doing a game recap I've done some research on our team over the past two seasons and here is what I have come up with!

Troy is having an outstanding break out year. After scoring only 12 goals last year in 27 games. He currently leads the team with 30 goals in 25 games. Keep up the excellent work!

Jay currently has 4 goals this year, his tramp stamp has 5 totalling 9 for the season. This is on par with previous years.

Al, had 14 goals in 21 games last season, currently only has 7 in 17. Stop trying new sticks! Go out there and rip it in bar down!!

Briggs has 6 goals in 54 games over two years of hockey.. But that is ok. He is going for the assist lead now. Or penalty lead. Or a renewed focus on defense. Something like that.

Tenacious D (Robinson) is only allowed to score using his wicked slap shot.

Justus has 5 goals this season. Yet the total distance of the puck travelled over those goals is approx 8 feet. Keep it up in front of the net, your a pain in the ass to see through!

Fuj can only score goals if he does a toe drag first... I want to see him on a break away with an empty net to see his moves.

Coop... has goals.

Britt, has the same amount of goals as I do this season. One. But to be fair he has two goals spanning 32 games over two seasons. So it's ok. But Britt, let it be known that my goal is to tie you in points by the end of the year!

Brandon (not david) Booth, great example of how to lead on and off the ice with morale support off, and lots of energy on. Good work.

Justin, SHOOT!

Thanks for reading, lets grab a victory tonight guys.

Tailgators Show Up In Lake Cowichan!

Over the course of the season we have made a lot of trips to Lake Cow, the results have not been very favourable. So it was a nice change of pace to take it to a team in a road game. The Express got off to a quick start but some stellar, yes I said it, stellar goaltending kept it 0-0 early. (I hate praising myself)

It took about seven Britt give aways before we caught fire. Some nice goals were scored including one of the hardest shots I've ever seen. Al ripped one from the blue line corner-bar straight down and in the net. Their goalie didn't react till the puck was being pulled out by the ref. Some funny stuff.

In the end an 8-2 victory was at hand, and a good time had by all.

And yes Britt, it was 8-2. Not 8-3. Ass...
