Community Engage - Ottawa Minor Hockey Deals

The Ottawa Minor Hockey Deals site offers a new deal every week with at least a 50% discount to save your parents money PLUS a percentage goes back to your team as well (easy fundraising).

We wanted to give you an update on what we have been up to. We have saved Ottawa area parents approx $26,000 over only 3 weeks and generated about $3200 in fundraising. If anyone bought the Barrhaven Source for Sports deal or the Sports Experts deals, your team will be receiving compensation in about 3 weeks (30 days after the deal ended - Barrhaven ended last Monday and Spors Experts ended last Saturday). We will give you more notice on that as it gets closer.
We also wanted to give you a heads up that we will be posting a few new deals on the Community Engage site on Thursday morning.
We will send you some more detailed information then, including some images.
- Currently there is 50% off 2 pre-xmas Ottawa Senators games - one is Dec 20th and the other is Dec 22nd.
- We will be posting 2 more post-xmas games - one is Jan 2nd and the other is Jan 5th. Same deal - half price ticket and Ottawa Sentors t-shirt. This should be an amazing xmas gift idea since all kids are off school that week.
- We will also be posting and featuring a half price full equipment wash plus skates from Hockey Wash. (www.hockeywash.ca) This is something that a lot of people have thought about over the years but this deal should get them to try it - maybe for the first time. Not only does it make the equipment smell better - but it also has health benefits by killing bacteria, etc on the equipment. Regular price is $85. Deal is $42.50.
- And lastly we are going to have 1-2 really unique hockey gift ideas for the hockey fanatic that has everything.
As with all deals, the savings will be 50% and 12.5% goes back to minor hockey as fundraising!! It is a win-win. We do ask a couple things from you;
1. If you can go and 'Like' our Community Engage Facebook page - we would appreciate it.
2. If you actually log in to your account on our site, then share one of the deals by hitting the little Facebook icon, if someone sees your Facebook post and then goes to the website - we can track that they arrived from your link and dole out the fundraising properly.
3. If you have a team website - please put some content on there - and include your team link that you have all been provided.
4. Please encourage your parents to register on the site, again using your team link, even if they don't buy a deal right away, they can still register so they are informed of all upcoming deals.
5. Please start thinking about how you and your parents (and maybe your players) can continue to get the word out for the fundraising aspect. We have had many emails in from people that purchased the deal from someone that passed it around at work, or from a family member, etc. We are going to create a really basic flyer that teams can print their team link on and they can distribute them however they see fit - at grocery store, public places. Or your parents can leave some in the 'lunch room' at work. We also have some parents that own businesses that are going to distribute them out to their customers and contacts. We can use the Ottawa Senators deals as the feature on the flyer for example, since it appeals to such a wide audience and it is such a great deal for the home town Senators.
Your team could generate hundreds if not thousands of dollars fairly easily. And it just involves the parents sharing via email for Facebook.

The boys voted after the game tonight and the results are in. We are the West End Capitals! We'll have a logo made up soon to go with our new name. Great game tonight. Go Caps Go!

Dressing Room

As per league rules, the dressing room and hallway outside the dressing room are for team officials and players only. The coaching staff will tie players skates where required. The only exception is for goalies who may need assistance with their equipment. After each game/practice, I would like all the boys to get out of their gear, pack their bags and meet their parents in the lobby. I think it's a good bonding exercise for the players and it makes things less hectic in the dressing room. All the coaches will be there if a player needs help.
